Question 1017287: Cassie walked for a while at three miles per hour and then continued her journey on a bus at 15 miles per hour. Her time on the bus was twice as long as her time walking. How
long did she ride on the bus if the total distance she covered was 66 miles?
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 3x + 15(2x) = 66
3x + 30x = 66
33x = 66
x = 2
.
Cassie walked 2 hours (that's x) at 3mph for a total of 6 miles
She rode 2x (or 2x2=4) hours on the bus at 15mph for a total of 60 miles
Total journey is 6 hours and 66 miles. 2 walking, 4 on the bus.
