Question 1016871: Two trains leave chattanooga, TN at the same time. One traveling north and the other traveling south at a speed that is 15 miles per hour faster than the north bound train. In 2 hours, the trains are 230 miles apart. Find the speed of each train.
Answer by rothauserc(4718)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x be the speed of the northbound train, then
2x + 2(x+15) = 230
:
2x +2x +30 = 230
:
4x = 200
:
x = 50
:
The northbound train travels at 50mph and the southbound train travels at 65mph
