Question 1005048: Two trucks leave the depot at the same time. One is going due north at 64 miles per hour, the other is going due south at 45 miles per hour. How many hours will it take for the two trucks to be 327 miles apart?
Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
65+45= 100 The trucks are moving away from each other at 100mph. They will be 327 miles apart in 3 hours 16 minutes and 12 seconds. This is why:
327/100= 3.27 So we have 3 hours and a remainder of 0.27. There are 60 minutes in one hour: 0.27*60= 16.2 So that's 16 minutes and we have .2 left over. A minute has 60 seconds and .20*60= 12 seconds. Put it all together and we get 3 hours 16 minutes and 12 seconds.
