A board 16ft long is cut into three pieces in such a way that the second piece is 1 ft longer then twice the first, and the third piece is 1ft shorter then the first. Find the length of each piece.

There is a group of boys and dogs. There are 22 heads and 68 feet. How many boys are there and how many dogs are there.
The answer is 10 boys and 12 dogs,but I need an equation.
