Using Regular 87 Octane gas gets 15 mpg (miles per gallon) and 20 mpg in the city and highway driving respectively.
Using Regular 89 Octane gas gets 17 mpg (miles per gallon) and 23 mpg in the city and highway driving respectively.
Using Regular 94 Octane gas gets 18 mpg (miles per gallon) and 25 mpg in the city and highway driving respectively.
Cost per gallon for gas is $2.50, $2.60, and $2.70 for Octane rating of 87, 89, and 94 respectively.
Assuming the variable X for city miles and Y for highway miles, write an equation to describe the cost of traveling in the car using the various octane rated gas.
Assuming Grand Ma and Grand Pa lives 400 miles away (120 city and 280 highway), what type of gas will get you there at the cheapest cost and what is the cost?
Using the equations you developed above, what type of gas will get you use and why?
