Question 187580: Bob and Paul are in a bar. Paul asks Bob his weight, which Bob refuses to answer. Paul tells bob that his weight is 196 lbs and hassels Bob to tell his own. After much prodding, Bob says,"I weight 100 pounds plus half of my weight." Paul then states Bob's weight. So what is Bob's weight and how do I solve this type of problem? Thanks so much!!!

I need help in solving this word problem. The members of the Student Activity Council on your campus are meeting to select two speakers for a month long event exploring why some people are most likely to succeed. The choices are Bill Clinton, Sean Combs, Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, and Tiger Woods. How many different ways can the two speakers be selected? Someone, please help. I am lost with this one. I would really appreciate it.

Question 188462: In a carnival game, you gain $2 if you win and lose $1 if you do not win, if someone plays 30 times and has a net loss of $6, how many wins were there?
I figured out that the answer is 8 wins,,by trial and error ,,but I do not know how to set up the equation.
