Question 999325: what two numbers will actualy be added together to give u 37 nd multiplied to give u 126?
Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I think you mean to say, for two unknown numbers x and y,
x + y = 37 and xy = 126.
You can use trial and error, or
y = 37 - x
x(37 - x) = 126
37x - x^2 = 126
x^2 - 37x + 126 = 0
This does not factor or work out evenly and you will have to apply the quadratic equation.
x =[(37 +- sqrt(37^2 - 4(126))]/2
I suspect you made a typo...if not, evaluate the above...
