Total sold
1 x + 2 y = 68 .............1
Total value
2 x + 3 y = 112 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -3
Multiply (2) by 2
-3 x -6 y = -204
4 x + 6 y = 224
Add the two equations
1 x = 20
/ 1
x = 20
plug value of x in (1)
1 x + 2 y = 68
20 + 2 y = 68
2 y = 68 -20
2 y = 48
y = 24
x= 20 first number
y= 24 second number
