Hi dear,
Let x=small number,
y=larger number.
From your first sentence,
x+y=80---(1)
y=x+9---(2)
put 2 in 1
x+x+9=80
2x=80-9
2x=71
x=35.5
put x=35.5 in 2
y=35.5+9
y=44.5
