Question 983199: If y varies directly as x and x=8 and y=6, what is the constant of proportionality? Write your answer as a fraction.
Answer by Timnewman(323)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since y varies directly as x,
then,
y=kx----(1)
where k=proportionality constnt
from equ 1,
k=y/x
when y=6,x=8
k=6/8
k=3/4
put the value of k in equ 1
y=3x/4
