Answer by farohw(175) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Twice is 2
The difference of a number and five is x - 5
Equals 9 is of course, = 9
Translation: 2(x - 5) = 9
If you have to solve:
2(x - 5) = 9
2x - 10 = 9
2x = 9 + 10
2x = 19
then divide both sides by 2 to isolate x,
x = 19/2
