The digits of a 2-digit number differ by 2. If the digits interchange and the resulting new number is added to the original number, we get 88. Find the original number. Please help.
U=units digit; T=tens digit U=T+2
(10T+U)+(10U+T)=88
11T+11U=88
11(T+U)=88 Divide each side by 11.
T+U=8 Substitute for U.
T+T+2=8
2T=6
T=3
ANSWER: The number is 35 or 53
