Question 929469: The sum of a double digit number is 8, multipled that number by 4 and the answer is 104 what is the number
Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x be the 10's digit
And let y be the 1's digit
x+y=8-------eq1
4(10x+y)=104, or
40x+4y=104------eq2
multiply eq1 by 4
4x+4y=32 subtract this from eq2
36x=72
x=2-----10's digit substitute into eq1
2+y=8
y=6----1's digit
sooooo 26 is the answer
Hope this helps----ptaylor
