The difference of the reciprocals of two numbers is 1/4 and one of the numbers is 4 times the other. Find the numbers.
Solution
let the first number is X and reciprocal of first number is 1/x
and second number is 4x and reciprocal of second number is 1/4x
as per given conditions
1/x-1/4x =1/4
(4-1)/4x=1/4
3/4x=1/4
12=4x
x=12/4=3
Answer first number is 3 and second number is 12
