Question 889280: one number is 4 more than another. Three times the greater number, less 2 times the smaller number is 26. find the numbers
Answer by Nigelyul(18) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let "x + 4" be the greater number and x be the smaller number
3(x+4) - 2(x) = 26
3x + 12 - 2x = 26
x = 14 ---> smaller number
14 + 4 = 18 ---> greater number
Checking by substitution:
3(18) - 2(14) = 26
54 - 28 = 26
26 = 26
