Question 886149: one number is 8 less than another number. If the sum of the two numbers is 96 find the two numbers
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A = B-8
A + B = 96
Substitute the value of A in the top equation into the bottom.
A + B = 96
(B-8) + B = 96
2B - 8 = 96
Add 8 to each side
2B = 104
Divide each side by 2
B = 52
Since A is B-8, A is therefore 52-8, or 44
44 + 52 = 96
