Question 859458: Im doing algerba, if you add 12 to a certain number, the result is the same as if you added 4 to twice the number. Find the number
Answer by rothauserc(4718)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x be the number, then
x + 12 = 2x + 4
subtract x from both sides of +
12 = x + 4
subtract 4 from both sides of =
8 = x
let's check the answer
8 + 12 = 2*8 + 4
20 = 20
our answer of x = 8 checks :-)
