Question 842376: The sum of two numbers is 67. The smaller number is 23 less than the larger number. What are the numbers?

Answer by sofiyac(983)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let larger number be x, then smaller number is x-23
their sum is 67 so
x+x-23=67 solve for x
2x-23=67 add 23 to each side
2x=90 divide each side by 2
x=45
so larger number is 45 and smaller number is 45-23=22
