Hi,

One number is 8 less than a second number , 

 the first number represented by (x-8) 

Question states:  Three times the first is 15 more than 6 times the second. 

    3(x-8)  = 6x   ****

    3x - 24 = 6x

        -24 = 3x

          -8 = x.   the numbers are -8 and -16
