Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When a certain number is trebled then decreased by 1, the result is twice as much as 5 more than the number.
3x - 1 = 2(x + 5)
3x - 1 = 2x + 10
Collect like terms;
3x - 2x = 10 + 1
x = 11
The number is 11.
Hope this helps.
