Question 787242: When the sum of 7 and twice a positive number is subtracted from the square of the number, 0 results. Find the number.
To be honest with you, I can do the work, I just have no idea of how to convert it to an equation. If you could help me out with converting it, and show me how it is converted, I can do the rest. Thank you.

When the sum of 7 and twice a positive number is subtracted from the square of the number, 0 results. Find the number.
Just write what it says:
x^2 - (7 + 2x) = 0
x^2 - 2x - 7 = 0
Solve this using the quadratic equation, only the positive solution is wanted
