You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=the number--------------then the reciprocal is 1/x
Now here's what we are told:
1/x+3=25/x multiply every term by x to get rid of the fractions
(1/x)(x)+3x=(25/x)(x) simplify
1+3x=25 subtract 1 from both sides
1-1+3x=25-1 collect like terms
3x=24 divide both sides by 3
x=8-------------------------------the number
CK
1/8+3=25/8 (note that 3 can be written as 24/8)
1/8+24/8=25/8
25/8=25/8

Hope this helps------------ptaylor
