Let the smaller number be x
Larger of the two numbers is 6 less than 3 times the number i.e
Larger number = 3x -6
Given, Three times the larger number is 7 more than 4 times the smaller number.
3(3x -6) = 7+4x
9x -18 = 7+ 4x
Grouping the like terms,
9x- 4x = 7+18
5x=25
x=5 (the smaller number)
Larger number is 3x-6
=3*5-6
=9
Answer: Smaller number:5
Larger number:9
