Question 756914: Please help me solve this equation:
The sum of two numbers is 50. The first number is 25% of the second number. What are the numbers?

Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Second number - x
First number - x/4
x + x/4 = 50
5x/4 = 50
Cross multiply
5x = 200
Divide both sides by 5
x = 40
First number - x/4 - 40/4 = 10.
Hope this helps.
:-)
Second number - x = 40
40 + 10 = 50
