let the smaller number is x
The average of two numbers is 62
so the bigger no is 2*62-x=124-x
2 is added to the smaller number, the ratio between the numbers become 1:2
x+2:124-x=1:2
or 2(x+2)=124-x
or 2x+4=124-x
or 3x=120
or x=40
