Question 747884: The sum of a mother's age and her son is 32. If the product of their ages is 60, how old are both the mother and son?
Answer by FrankM(1040) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
M+S = 32
M*S = 60
S = 32-M. (rearranged first equation)
M(32-M)=60
32M - M^2 = 60
M^2-32M+60=0
(M-30)(M-2)=0
M is either 30 or 2
So mom is 30 and son is 2, because the other way is not possible.
