Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x + y = 44 .....1
x + 3y = 114 ....2
Multiply equation 1 by 3
3x + 3y = 132 ....1
x + 3y = 114 ....2
Subtract 2 from 1
2x = 18
x = 9
Therefore numbers are
9 and 35
