The numerator of a fraction exceeds 8 times the denominator by 2. The value of the fraction is (17/2). Find the fraction.
---------
Let the denominator be "x"
Then the numerator is 8x+2.
Then (8x+2)/x = 17/2
Cross multiply to get:
16x+4 =17x
x=4
The fraction is (8*4+2)/4 = 17/2
