Question 72779: The winner of this race ran 1500 meters in 5 minutes and 22 seconds. What was
the winner's speed in m/sec? Show all of your work.

Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Distance(d)=rate(r) times time(t) or d=rt and r=d/t
1 minute=60sec
5 minutes =5*60sec=300sec
so t=322sec
r=1500m/322sec=4.6583 meters/sec
Hope this helps-----ptaylor
