X=3Y
X-8=Y+4
3Y-8=Y+4
3Y-Y=4+8
2Y=12
Y=12/2
Y=6 ANS. FOR THE SMALLER NUMBER.
X=3*6=18 ANS. FOR THE LARGER NUMBER.
PROOF:
18-8=6+4
10=10
