I am sure there is an algebraic way to solve this. But given the problem, a little logic will help us first.
You are told the number numbers odd and both be between 30 and 60.
Their ration is 3:5.
So first, lets see what numbers between 30 and 60 are odd and divisible by 5.
There are only 3 numbers that met those conditions -- 35, 45 and 55
You also know the larger number must be considerably larger than the smaller one. So start with 55. Divide 55 by 5 to get 11. Now multiply 11 by 3 to get 33.
33 is odd. So 33:55 works.
Again, you could spend more time settin gup the algebra, but sometimes (like on SAT or GRE) using a different math gets the answer quicker.
