Answer by Shana-D77(132)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"4 times the sum of a number and 5 is equal to 6 more than 3 times a number"

"times" --> X (multiply)
"the sum of" --> ( )
"a number" --> n
"and 5" --> + 5
"is" --> =
"6 more than" --> + 6

put it all together:
4(n + 5) = 3n + 6
That was the hard part!
Now, solve...
4n + 20 = 3n + 6 (distributed the 4)
n + 20 = 6 (subtracted 3n from both sides)
n = -14 (subtracted 20 from both sides)
