Question 658152: one number is 6 more than twice a second number. Their sum is 54. How do I find the numbers?
Answer by chriswen(106) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x be the first number
let 54-x be the second number
(second statement)
x - 6 = 2(54-x)
x - 6 = 108 - 2x
3x = 114
x = 38
54-x=16
The first number is 38 and the second number is 16.
