Question 656561: when the smaller of two consecutive intergers is added to 4 times the larger the result is 34
Answer by MathDazed(34) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Remember consecutive numbers can be written as n and n+1 (the larger being n+1)
n + 4(n+1) = 34
n + 4n + 4 = 34
5n + 4 = 34
5n + 4 - 4 = 34 - 4
5n = 30
5n/5 = 30/5
n = 6
n+1 = 7
