b = a

same as
c = a

Replace b and c in the 1st equation
a + a + a = 496
Get rid of those annoying fractions, multiply by 60, results
60a + 4(8a) + 15(11a) = 60(496)
60a + 32a + 165a = 29760
257a = 29760
a = 29760/257
a ~ 115.80; I was hoping for an integer here, but we'll just charge ahead
b = (8/15)*115.8 ~ 61.75
c = (11/4}}}* 115.8 ~ 318.45

The only thing I can think of is, I misinterpreted:
