Question 636494: The sum of two numbers is 125. The larger number is 6 more than the smaller number. Find the two numbers
Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=smaller number
Then x+6=larger number
So, our equation to solve is:
x+(x+6)=125 subtract 6 from each side
x+x+6-6=125-6 collect like terms
2x=119 divide each side by 2
x=59.5----smaller number
x+6=59.5+6=65.5----larger number
CK
59.5+65.5=125
125=125
Hope this helps---ptaylor
