Question 622884: If m - 1 is a positive number, which of the following must represent an odd integer that is 1 less than 4 times an odd number? I solved the problem; 8m - 5 , but I do not know how to explain what I did. Perhaps the tutors can give me some insight? Thank you
Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Are there answer choices?
Also, 4(m-1) - 1 = 8m-5, which is odd if and only if 8m is even (m need not be even). The condition "m-1 is a positive number" is not specific enough.
