One number is 8 more than another

Let x and (x+8) represent the numbers

Question states*** Their sum is 94.

 x + (x+8) = 94

    2x+8 = 94

       2x = 86

        x = 43

the numbers are 43 and 53  (43+8)

  43 + 51 = 94

x+y=94 and x=8+y
8+y+y=94
2y=94-8
2y=86
y=86/2
y=43

so the numbers are 43 and 51
