Let x and y be the two numbers.
Let us write the given condition in equation form as follows.
x-y=72 ....... (1)
And similarly the second condition is
x/y=4
=> x=4y
Putting this value of x in equation (1), we have
4y-y=72
=> 3y=72
=> y=24
Putting this value of y in equation (1), we have
x-24=72
=> x=96
Therefore, the two positive numbers are 24 and 92.

the conditions given in the question.
