Question 562272: twice a number increased by 11 is 21 less than three times the number.
Answer by Maths68(1474) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x be the number
Twice the x = 2x
Three times the x = 3x
Twice the x increased by 11 = 2x+11
21 less than three times the x = 3x-21
2x+11=3x-21
2x-3x=-21-11
-x=-32
Multiply by -1 both sides of above equation
-x(-1)=-32(-1)
x=32
Check
======
2x+11=3x-21
Put the value of x in above equation
2(32)+11=3(32)-21
64+11=96-21
75= 75
