Question 559164: Please help me solve this equation: What are 5 odd whole numbers that have a sum of 100?
Answer by KMST(5328) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you have 5 odd whole numbers, a, b, c, d, and e, their sum,
a+b+c+d+e, will always be an odd number. It could not be 100.
Finding 5 consecutive even numbers that add to 100 would be easier;
16+18+20+22+24=100.
If you do not say they are consecutive, there are many solutions.
You could find 4 odd numbers that add to 100
(21+23+27+29=100), but not four consecutive odd numbers.
If you want to add odd numbers to get 100, you need an even number of odd numbers, and they cannot be consecutive.
