(45/9)*(3+8)
You can add first or divide 45 by 9 first.
They are independent.
5*11=55

what number will result if you add 3 and 8,then multiply the sum by the quotient of 45 and 9,whet is to be anwered first?why?
1. add 3 and 8, get 11 as that sum

then

2. multiply that sum, which is 11, by the quotient of 45 and 9

We have to find out what that quotient is so we will know what
we are to multiply that sum of 11 by.

So we find that quotient by dividing 45 by 9, getting 5 as that quotient

Now we know what quotient we have to multiply that sum of 11 by. It's 5.
So we multiply 11 by 5 and get 55.

We use parentheses around the operations we have to do separately,
like this

                     (3+8)×(45÷9)

If we wrote it without parentheses, like this "3+8×45÷9"
we wouldn't know what to do first and we'd get different
answers. That's why parentheses are so important in
mathematics.
