Question 456821: What is the difference expressed as a percent of the original price between a 20% discount followed by a 30% discount and a straight 45% discount. I tried to pretend that the original price is $50. I solved and got an 80% difference? Is that correct?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the original price = x
.8x * .7=.56x value of product after the 2 discounts
.55x value of product after the 45% discount.
The 45% discount is a bigger discount.
.56x-.55x=.01x
