If you're trying to find the original number, then you might want to work backwords.
If it's 10 LESS THAN one half, add the 10 back to see just HALF of the original number
(15+10=25)
If 25 is half, multiply it by 2 to see the whole (because half is 1/2)
25*2=50
The original number was 50, and you check it by plugging this in and working the problem forwards:
"10 less than 1/2 of 50 is 15"
-1/2 of 50 is 25
-10 less than 25 (25-10) is 15
-15=15

Let the number be x. Then,

x%2F2+-+10+=+15

x%2F2+=+25

x+=+50.

15 + 10 = 25
25 * 2 = 50
therefore the number should be 50
proof
50/2 = 25
25- 10 = 15
