One number is 4/3 times another and they have a differce of 10. What are the two numbers?
-------------------
Equations:
x = (4/3)y
x-y = 10
----
Substitute for "x" and solve for "y":
(4/3y)-y = 10
(1/3)y = 10
y = 30
----
Now solve for "x":
x = (4/3)y
x = (4/3)30
x = 40
========
Solution: (40,30)
