Let x = the number
2x+7=3(x+6)
2x+7=3x+18
2x-2x+7=3x-2x+18
7=x+18
7-18=x+18-18
-11=x
Check:
Twice the number is -22, and 7 more than this is -15.
On the other side, the sum of 6 + -11 is -5. Three times this is -15, so it checks!!
