I know that x is the first, x+1 would be the second and the third would be x+2. What I do not understand is how to write out the equation.
The best I can figure it out would be:
x+x+1=23+x+2 = x+25
Is that correct?

Yes, but it should not be an equation. 23 + (x+2) = x+25 should be the correct expression.
