Write an equation for each statement:
:
i am a 4 digit number
a, b, c, d
;
the ratio of my first digit to my second digit is 3 to 1
=
cross multiply
a = 3b
:
the ratio of my third digit to my last digit is 1 to 3
=
d = 3c
:
the ratio of my first digit to my last is 2 to 3
=
2d = 3a
:
all my digits add up to 29 what number
a + b + c + d = 29
replace a with 3b, and replace d with 3c
3b + b + c + 3c = 29
4b + 4c = 29
I don't think you can solve this with integers, 4b + 4c cannot be an odd number
