2n = d + 2
or
d = 2n - 2
:
If 3 is added to each the numerator and the denominator the new fraction formed is 2/3.
=
Cross multiply
2(d+3) = 3(n+3)
2d + 6 = 3n + 9
2d = 3n + 9 - 6
2d = 3n + 3
replace d with (2n-2)
2(2n-2) = 3n + 3
4n - 4 = 3n + 3
4n - 3n = 3 + 4
n = 7 is the numerator
then
d = 2(7) - 2
d = 12
