If the square of 2 more than a number is the same as 10 more than 9 times the number, what is the answer
:
(x+2)^2 = 9x + 10
FOIL(x+2)(x+2)
x^2 + 4x + 4 = 9x + 10
Combine like terms on the left
x^2 + 4x - 9x + 4 - 10 = 0
x^2 - 5x - 6 = 0
Factors to
(x+1)(x-6) = 0

x = -1
x = 6
